Gilly was already in town hanging with brother Chris. Scooter, Freck, Vinny, Travy, Derfy, Narke, Hazzy, Griggy & Wally arrived Wednesday at the Plaza. We enjoyed Saginaw’s Deli at Circa, gamed a bit and hung out in Gilly’s suite.

Thursday morning, we departed for Willow Beach Marina in AZ for scenic day on pontoon boat on Colorado River. Unfortunately, Gilly had major tooth ache, missed the boat, and had to see dentist to remove his tooth. It is tough getting old and Gilly should know!

Captain Travy manned the boat, we enjoyed beautiful weather, scenic rock formations, refreshing water, relaxing on floaties, sub sandwiches, euchre, beach football game and a few cold ones. Our 20 year old Veggy Tube handle’s broke, so Da Big Guy muscled through this, held the rope while him and Wally (mount?) enjoyed a killer tube ride!

Stage Door was closed due to remolding.

We missed the Veteran Leatherneck bar, definitely will hit next Veggy.

Limo, Colin, Red and Codo all joined soon after.

Our shirt unveiling/toast had a different vibe this Veggy. Scooter’s design of the Veggy shirts was heartfelt as the spades were replaced with hearts, along with Char on our logo. We toasted with wine (not OC) in Life is Precious, STWFWYC glasses in honor of Char.

Nice walk and dinner to Nacho Daddy’s, great food, atmosphere, and drinks. Travy’s treat for Don Julio shots were way better than house tequila shots offered to all Veggy members.

Friday morning, Da Big Guy started off preparing either Irish coffee or Bloody Mary’s prior to teeing off for 29^th annual Veggy Open. The salmon color Veggy shirts were a big hit. We played The Club at Sunrise, AKA the Ditch. Nice course, just do not hit it right! Colin (pink thong) picked up another Veggy title with a 93. Freck shot 95 (Senior Winner)  Vinny 101, Wally 103 & Travy 108 to finish in top 5. Veggy history was made as Scooter did not make top 5, no podium for 10 time. Enjoyed extended 19^th hole before heading back to suite for Widow Jane, Writers Tears Irish Whiskey, Old Crow and cold ones. Only Widow Jane is allowed in signature Veggy Open Decanter, poured by Scooter. Hold’em tournament (won by chip bully Gilly) Euchre, Horse Racing game and backgammon was enjoyed by all!

WOW ( Wally’s Words of Wisdom) was in honor of 35-year work friendship with Hank Hahn, who passed away 1 year ago. 4 Veggy members have experienced Talon Lodge in Alaska because of Hank. Hank inspired Wally to read Proverbs every corresponding day and this has resulted in additional wisdom, guidance, and happiness for the life of T Wally. Proverbs books were handed out to all, read daily and enjoy!

Vinny received a pink microfiber towel in honor of his pink consolation wrestling championship nearly 50 years ago!

Saturday morning pairs golf was another beautiful day of golf, as long as you were not in the ditch! Due to uneven numbers, Scooter/Bone played solo and shot 129. Freck/Gilly shot 137. The pairs championship is currently under review by the Veggy Golf Committee?????

We met with Gilly’s casino host Aquarius, he bought a round for the Veggy guys before we headed to Oktoberfest dinner/drinks at Triple George outside venue. An awesome 4 course dinner of German food, cheese appetizers, wine/beer for all.

Gaming wasn’t great, but Vinny and Wally hit a straight flush playing Pai Gow for a nice cash.

Pickleball Sunday morning was played by 6 of the finest. Da Big Guy and Wally won, but Limo, Colin, Hazzy and Vinny were in contention. Sunday was football day hanging in Gilly’s suite, nice relaxing day!

Monday was mellow pool/jacuzzi/euchre day followed with MNF and very nice dinner at Oscar’s steakhouse. Thanks to Gilly, Oscar’s steakhouse has been a regular meal at the Veggy.  

Tuesday morning, final Veggy members departed, another great time with great friends.

Our Veggy motto has remained the same these last 29 years. Although family always comes 1^st, “spend time with friends while you can.”
