Victory For Vinny!

Only The 9th Man To Win As VO Celebrates Silver Jubilee!

THATS GOLD!!!

At the LINQ, we enjoyed TNF, pizza, cold ones & Veggy hats compliments of Da Big guy. Texas Jen was a surprise visit, possibly Freck’s future wife as she likes engineers!

Friday morning, 8:00 am golf departure for Scooter, Freck, Gilly, Limo Bob, Da Big Guy, Hazzy, Vinny & Wally. 6 sets of golf clubs, tight fit all in Honda Pilot. 9 Time drove, Limo Bob rode shot-gun….…vehicle was packed like sardines!

Conditions were rainy, cold and windy at Eagle Crest in Summerlin. Vinny won with a 79, Gilly & Freck 82, Hazzy 84, Scooter 90, Narke 95, Limo 96 and Wally 98. Congrats to Spunky for winning The Henricks Cup!

We enjoyed lasagna lunch with Gramma Glo at her childhood friend’s house in Summerlin. 9 Time presented Vinny the Henricks Cup as all cheered Vinny, a 1st Time VO Champion.

Back at The LINQ, some gamed, some napped, some hit Stage Door before the shirt unveiling ceremony. Gilly, interim shirt chairman, hit a home run with this year’s shirts. A motion was made to promote Gilly to a 3-year term as shirt chairman. A 2nd was acknowledged and Gilly graciously accepted his new position. Congrats Gilly!

Wally had a few words of wisdom and a question. Would you rather leave a Legacy or live a Legacy during this finite journey we call life?

STWFWYC coasters were a reminder to enjoy our friendship as well as personalized 25 year Veggy anniversary hats compliments of EC Da Big Guy!

Pairs golf on Saturday commenced with egg burritos & Bloody Mary’s. After the 1st nine, all 4 teams were in contention. Wildcat wrestlers Vinny & Wally showed their perseverance and won with a 95. Scooter/Hazzy scored 97, Freck/Limo 103 and Gilly/Narke 109.

We all enjoyed the 19th hole before heading to the Peter Gunn American Legion Post 10 Hall in Vegas.

The time spent with our Veterans was fun and rewarding. These Veterans served our country and we served them food and drinks.

Limo Bob, started the celebration with his reading of an awesome American Flag sign/plaque he had custom made for this event. Limo presented it to Commander McDonald. American Flag coasters were given to all Veterans; they were very appreciative.

Besides all VO members helping prepare food/drinks, also helping  were Ronny/CJ Zahari, Doug/Jen Meagher, Chris/Sue Reif, Janet/Bill Rohde and Gramma Glo. 35 veterans were in attendance, a good time was had by all!

Back to the LINQ we all went. Freck, Narke & Wally headed to Stage Door for the high-priced hot dog & beer! Hazzy & Limo Bob soon joined. We all hooked up later to enjoy the great music next door to the LINQ. Played some outdoor blackjack and enjoyed the tunes.

Tequila, Chivas lime shots and interesting dressed guys/girls made a memorable evening!

Sunday morning coffee walk in the promenade was enjoyed by a few, as most members slept in. With Bear gear on, we all walked to the Front Yard, Ellis Island. The atmosphere was awesome as we enjoyed Bloody Mary’s, Jameson shots, craft beer and tasty all you can eat food buffet as we watched our Bears defeat the Raiders. We secured our own blackjack table after the game and then headed back to the LINQ and enjoyed the live music next door.

Monday morning was the inaugural Pickleball VO Championship. Only the strongest competed, T Wally won his 2nd VO championship ousting Da Big Guy in the finals. The Dickie trophy was presented.

Lunch was at the Tilted Kilt, then we gamed at Harrah’s for what was the most exciting gaming moment in 25 years VO experience.

In Paigow, with $835,000 bonus pot in sight, Gilly’s first 6 cards he had a straight flush, 1 more and he had 7 card straight flush and $835,000 win. Oh man, he didn’t hit the bonus, but still cashed with nice win!

We enjoyed a nice dinner at Pampas Brazilian steak house. It was a tough weather walk back to the LINQ.

The final stragglers departed Tuesday morning, a great time together, all had a blast!

Next Veggy will be downtown, sometime in the Fall.

Although our family always come first, let’s “spend time with friends while you can,”

My best always,

T Wally
