2008 Veggy Open Championship One For The Record Book

Numbers… they are used by every person, every day. They tell us how much money we have, how much we owe, how tall we are and what we weigh. Some numbers can be very challenging for some people. Take the Veggy Open Affirmative Action Director Garon for example, 16 years of schooling and he could not add 18 numbers up correctly. After the third failed attempt Garon had to differ to a man with 26 years of schooling, Gilly for the correct answer. Some numbers tell a completely different story, they tell us of historic achievements made by the all time greats. When we see the number 16,726, we think of Walter Patton’s record rushing yards, 714, Babe Ruth’s record home run total, 2130, Lou Gehrig’s consecutive game streak, and when we see the number 318, we all think of the weight of a young lady in Champaign IL named Julie. Now the number 6 has been added to the list of all time great achievements, 6 Veggy Open Championships by the one and only Scott STVOC Henricks. Like Cy Young’s 511 wins this record will never be touched.

The 2008 field for the first time eve r felt they had a chance. All knew that the very gracious and humble champion took the entire 2007 season off to focus completely on his good friend Freckles in an effort to groom the perennial runner up to Champion status. Scott worked day and night on the physical and mental parts of the game. This was a real struggle because he really didn’t have much to work with physically or mentally with freckles. Regardless the great Champion never gave up, showing the same kind of dedication he did as a youngster growing up in the small town of Wheeling IL. during his High Schools years, Scott dedicated his time to a young wrestler named Mike Reif (now known as Gilly). Mike had dreams of becoming a National champion one day. Scott seeing that his friend had the dream but not the talent, skills, strength, work ethic, and drive to accomplish this goal, spent every weekend night (after midnight) working out with his friend to develop the skills necessary to achieve his dream of winning a national championship. Mike did achieve his dream, and won a national wrestling championship in Collage. Freckles also achieved his life long dream (completely do to the hard work and dedication of Scott STVOC Henricks) and was crowned the 2007 Veggy Open Champion. It was a very proud day for Scott STVOC Henricks seeing the tears in Freclkles eye as he received the last of only 10 Championship shirts. Only five men on the planet poses’s these historic trophy shirts and the emotions over took Freckles like a giant fat fold (Julie 318) over a 105 pounder in a hotel room in Champaign those many years ago. Whether the great one is grooming his friends to realize their dreams or working with young upcoming wrestlers at a family and friends picnic on a “state of the fart” escape move, its always about the other people with this great Champion. That is why the 6th championship for  Scott STVOC Henricks is so special. The 49 year old (oldest to win a major) only played 3 rounds of golf in the past 3 years, and to come out and destroy the field consisting of Freckles, Sniffy, Gilly and Dan (we need to get this guy a nickname) all of whom work 6-7 days a week on thier games, just shows that with the immortals, greatness never fads or ages. It is only fitting that the most prized trophy in all of sports bears his name.
