Veggy Field Lets In The Old Man — HAZZY Takes Senior Title
Gilly was already in Vegas, hanging with brother Chris @ Golden Nugget. Scooter, Freck, Vinny, Narke & Wally arrived Wednesday, enjoyed a chill day, dined at Nacho Daddy for dinner, all crashed in Gilly’s palatial suite at The Plaza.
Thursday morning, nothing better than huge breakfast portions at Plaza Hash House. Server Mallory remembered/recognized The Veggy Guys, and once again, she gave us the good-looking guy discount!
Hazzy & Limo arrived and met Da Big Guy for an all-day motorcycle/slingshot ride throughout Vegas mountains/Red Rock area. Thank God they all made it back in 1 piece!
G-Dawg, Travy, Red & Tommy arrived Thursday. We watched TNF, played PaiGow, slots, blackjack and had complimentary drinks at The Sand Dollar. We enjoyed a variety of cold ones, thanks to our sponsor Mission Brewing. Ship wrecked, barrel aged Goose Island, Widow Jane Decadence, Woodford Reserve and everyone’s favorite, Old Crow were indulged by all!
Friday morning, the conditions at The Veggy Open were brutal, cold & windy at Stallion Mountain. The “moon” was out on the car ride to the golf course, which made conditions extra brutal! DBG flask was filled with Old Crow, Sarge started our group and the competition was on! Maddy catered to the Veggy Guys with cold ones and Fireball.
In the end, same players, same results, as Red shot a 99 to capture another Veggy Open Championship. He’s more than ½ way to surpassing 10 time. Will Scooter be replaced/irrelevant in 2029?
Hazzy shot 100 and captured his 1st Veggy Open senior title, congrats Hazzy! Freck & Wally tied with a 102 and Vinny shot a 108 to round out the top 5.
After golf, K Codo joined us to honor our Veterans at The Leatherneck Veteran bar in Las Vegas. We bought drinks for all Veterans, handed out gifts and enjoyed conversation with several Vets. Da Big Guy is our leader for this event and he made all of us proud! Owner Ghost addressed The Veggy Guys and was very grateful for us giving back to our Vets.
Back at the Plaza in Gilly’s suite, it was time for pizza, beer, bourbon, backgammon, poker, music and good ole fashion fun!
Saturday morning came early, as we had shirt unveiling and Wally’s words of wisdom before departing for Pair’s golf. The shirt committee will stay intact for another year as they provided quality/airy Veggy shirts, thank you shirt committee! Wally shared medical article on how being grateful can add years to your life. Grateful, Thankful & Blessed blocks were handed out to all.
Pairs golf was uneven this year as we had a 3-some of Scooter, Travy & Vinny. It appears Hoffman dragged down this Wheeling powerhouse!
Freck & Tommy shot an 82 to win the pairs Veggy. DBG flask of Old Crow was shared by many. DBG showed his love and dropped trow on 18th hole! Most departed back to The Plaza. Limo, Hazzy, DBG and Wally met K Codo at Stage Door for $1 beers/hot dogs. We all met in Gilly’s suite for award presentation, directed by our fearless leader 10 time. Our group walked to Hennesy’s for dinner, shots of Jameson on the house, Shepherd’s Pie and Irish beer enjoyed by all, tiny beer for Limo!
Sunday morning proved that only the strong survive! Vinny, Narke, Tommy and Wally competed for VO Pickleball championship. Tommy & Wally used their Frost/Holmes/Wheeling toughness to earn the championship. Sunday was a day of watching football and thanks to Gilly, capping the evening with an awesome dinner at Oscar’s steakhouse & variety show at The Plaza. Gilly’s host Aquarius took care of our dinner and show, very much appreciated!
Monday, only Vinny, Scooter, Freck, Gilly and Wally were left. We enjoyed competitive Euchre tournament at the pool most of the day. Gilly used his cheesehead skills to win Euchre, obviously not much skill needed for Euchre. We watched football at Circa, huge/crazy screens in their sports book. We actually had partial funds returned in community slots, thanks Gilly! Vinny dominated Zeus slots.
Tuesday morning, final 5 members departed, all feeling grateful, thankful & blessed. Our Veggy motto remains the same, true to our hearts, it will never change. Family always comes 1st,
